Double Glazing Conversion

A double glazing upgrade from Central Sash Windows provides all the thermal and acoustic benefits of complete new double glazed windows, but at a reduced cost. As surrounding panels, architrave or plasterwork don't need to be removed, there is less decorative work to be made good. With the original casements retained, there is not only a material cost saving, but also the original style and feel of your window is retained.

   This service includes:

​

  • A stripdown of the window.

  • Sill replaced if required.

  • Stone mastic stripped out and casements secured to stone with fixing foam.

  • Entire exterior of window is stripped to bare wood, putty repairs undertaken as necessary, bare wood sanded smooth, primed, undercoated and gloss finished.

  • New cast iron or lead weights fitted to accomodate the additional weight of the sashes.

  • The replacement of all 4 sash cords.

  • The use of good quality waxed cord with nylon core for durability.

  • Pulley wheels lubricated for smooth operation.

  • New double glazed sashes fitted.

  • The installation of new parting beads with pre-installed draught seal.

  • Installation of draught seals in meeting rail.

  • Re-assembly of the window.

  • The installation of new baton rods with pre-installed draught seal.

  • New thumbscrew fastener and lift rings.

  • Where required, the installation of simplex system which allows lower sash to be swung inwards for cleaning.

  • Re-pointing of window to stonework using traditional linseed oil based mastic.

  • Low 'e' glass on inside panes.

  • A huge variety of double glazed unit options.
